I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Winakor due to his serious lack of care and failure to properly address critical health concerns.

Dr. Winakor's misdiagnosis and neglect significantly delayed my father's cancer treatment, which I believe contributed to his untimely death. Given his age and symptoms, a cancer screening should have been an obvious step for any experienced physician.

Had my father acted on my advice to seek a new doctor after Dr. Winakor failed to examine me as a teenager with severe chest pain and instead treated me as though I were seeking drugs, he might still be alive today. Dr. Winakor also misled my mother about examining me while ordering opioids over the phone as I struggled to breathe on the bathroom floor. I was ultimately forced to go to the ER, where proper tests were conducted and an accurate diagnosis was made. I still manage this condition today, and had Dr. Winakor listened to me and avoided his misguided assumptions, I would have experienced significantly less pain and suffering.
* I have included screenshots of my 2018 reviews as evidence of my initial experience with this doctor to support my statement.

I have not yet found it within myself to forgive him for these mistakes, and I do not believe he is fit to practice medicine. While I wish no harm upon him and hope for his well-being, I sincerely hope he refrains from causing further harm to others and considers making better choices for himself and his patients.

Dr. Winakor, if you are reading this, I regret that your failures have impacted my family so profoundly. I wish my father had heeded my concerns after my distressing visit to your office so many years ago. If you cannot provide the level of care that patients' lives demand, perhaps a different life path is calling to you. I hope to find forgiveness someday, though I do not expect an apology, nor do I believe one would be forthcoming due to legal concerns. If you have any sense of compassion, stepping aside from medicine and pursuing a less consequential path, like gardening, might offer a way to make amends.
While you can sow new seeds, you cannot bring my father back.

Don't expect them to make a call reminding you of an appointment. Should you call to confirm and miss your appointment, the receptionist will be blunt and make no effort to reschedule.

Dr Winakor and his staff always treat me with respect and kindness. When things come up, Dr Winakor fits me in I think the Physicians Assistants in the group are great as well. Dr Winakor goes above what you’d expect from a Family Practitioner.

Dr. Winakor had been my primary care physician for many years until I moved away from CT. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a new PCP.

He misdiagnosedy Mother, told her she was old and that old people pass out, lose weight, and have anemia. She had lymphoma...he wouldn't even admit her to the hospital. She died after much suffering because she was misdiagnosed. Always get a second opinion if you go to this doctor...and don't get "old"!
