I have been going here for a couple of years and highly recommend it. The doctors, assistants, hygienists and staff are cheerful, friendly and professional. Everything calm and pain free. I have had a couple of semi-emergencies and crowns replaced and I couldn't be happier with my treatment and the results.

Can’t recommend this practice. Based on my experience they are looking to make the most money possible. I was living out of the area and thought my old dentist didn’t take my insurance anymore. I was overdue for a cleaning and came here. I’ve never had any dental work done other than the occasional filling. While the office staff was nice, the entire vibe in the practice was just off. No one seemed to know what they were doing or where they should be. After my X-rays and exam they presented me with an estimate of 1800 dollars worth of dental work. I was shocked. On top of it they wanted me to go to one of their specialists to make sure there wasn’t nerve damage, which wasn’t even needed as the tooth had no signs of decay. They then explained to me that any overpayment made after the insurance adjustment would be kept in my account for use as a credit on future dental work. Excuse me, what? I’ve never heard of that.

The whole situation did not sit right with me so I called my insurance. I found out that they ran my insurance wrong therefore making my out of pocket estimate super expensive.

I decided to only get the cleaning (which the hygienist was great). I also called my old dentist and they accepted my new insurance. Upon getting a second opinion, they said 2 of the recommended fillings weren’t even needed. I ended up getting a crown and additional filling for a little over 400 out of pocket. 1800 vs. 400. Felt like a scam which is incredibly disappointing that a healthcare provider would place profit over care.

After my experiencing different Dental offices, I choose Bayview Dental. My doctor is not only amazing she's awesome. Caring, with concern. She leads her by example. I appreciate everyone at Bayview Dental.

The doctor and the staff at this Manatee office are all very nice and I have no complaint with the people.  They have a beautiful and clean office with ultra modern equipment.

I would give a caution to anyone having major work done to insist that the office obtain a written pre-authorization first.  I assumed that would be done for my crown and it was not. The end result was quite expensive for me.

The day of the final seating of said crown I told the doctor I was still having pain. This doctor originally used heat to determine I needed a crown. But when I told her of the current pain she just put the crown on with permanent cement...and gave me an order to go to another doctor in the Bayview system to have a root canal.  Really?  Not temporary cement?

That doctor commented that I must have had this problem for quite a while because she had difficulty stopping the tooth from bleeding and I had to go on antibiotics. Not to mention having a brand new crown ($$$) be drilled through and then have to have a filling.  If the crown has been put on with temporary cement I would still have a perfect crown.

On two separate occasions the Manatee office billed the wrong insurance company.  The first time I paid my portion with an HSA card still active from my husband's former employer. But though the Manatee office had my new insurance company on file they still billed the insurance company that was formerly on file.  (We were no longer insured through that employer or by their ins company but the funds on the HSA card were still ours to use until it was empty.)  The office was able to correct that mistake for me when I showed them.

The second occasion I got a bill loooong after the procedure because insurance had denied the charge.  I paid it but also brought in paperwork to show that they had originally submitted to the our previous insurance company when both they and the root canal office had been informed of the new insurance when it became active, and the root canal office HAD submitted to the correct company.

When I paid the charge in question I requested they resubmit it to the proper insurance company covering me at the time of the charge so when it was reimburse to them they could return my payment. After a couple months I hadn't heard from them so I called today to check on it.  "No, we show that charge was your responsibility."

Sigh. No, it wasn't, I brought in the paperwork to show that it was not submitted to the correct insurance. I told them gently that I'm done with Bayview and nicely asked them to please remove me from the email list.

So, make sure this office obtains a written authorization for major work and if you have a change in your insurance do document when you give them your new information, and check your EOBs.

I had a 10am appointment for a front tooth chip. They brought me for full X-rays which I had to decline , they didn’t look or ask to even know if a full mouth of X-rays were needed.
I was on time but the dentist came in at 11, no apology or explanation.
Charged at checkout without an itemized bill, they sent later after I requested. I have full coverage, no copay, no coinsurance or deductible and in network but charged me 39%.
I did put in writing to return any overpayment vs credit my account, have to see if they honor that.

They did have a couple of knowledgeable and personable staff and nothing “bad” happened; just expect better.
