I saw Dr. Botolin and he refused to look at my mri because it was over 6 months old stating, I am not an Archeologist. It takes a while to get in to his office. I made another appointment and was rescheduled 4 times and then was told he sees patients in the morning so that is why we keep calling you to reschedule you to a different time to make his day flow smoother. I am so over the garbage that we have to put up with to see a specialist. Is it his ego or incompetent staff scheduling. I will try to find a better office as this one is absolutely unacceptable in it's practices and I am tired of taking off from work for an appointment with him and getting a call a day before asking me to change my appointment.

I was lucky enough to have my primary care doctor at UC refer me to Dr. Botolin. I had gone through many different doctors and after seeing Dr. Botolin, we realized I needed spine surgery. The surgery was spot on and all was corrected through the fusion. His attention to detail is something I've never experienced with any Dr. before. His staff was amazing and very attentive to all my questions and concerns. Dr. Botolin changed my life and is considered one of the best in his field.

I recently had the privilege of having Dr. Botolin perform fusion surgery on my dad, and I couldn't be more grateful for the exceptional care he provided. From the initial consultation to the post-operative follow-ups, Dr. Botolin displayed a remarkable level of professionalism and expertise.
What stood out to me the most was his thoughtful and straightforward approach. Dr. Botolin didn't sugarcoat things; he provided clear and honest information about the procedure and potential outcomes. While some may prefer a more comforting demeanor, I found his honesty and transparency to be incredibly reassuring.
Throughout the entire process, Dr. Botolin exhibited genuine concern for my dad's well-being. He took the time to address any concerns or questions we had, ensuring that we felt informed and supported every step of the way.
In addition to his exceptional bedside manner, Dr. Botolin's surgical skills are second to none. The successful outcome of my dad's surgery is a testament to his expertise and dedication to his patients' care.
While I understand that every patient's experience may vary, I can confidently say that Dr. Botolin is a rare find in the field of spine surgery. His unwavering commitment to excellence and compassionate care make him a standout physician in his field.

I highly recommend Dr. Botolin to anyone in need of spine surgery. His skill, professionalism, and genuine concern for his patients truly set him apart.

Update: My wife had an appt with another neurosurgeon a week later that I forgot to cancel thank goodness! Dr. Botolin made my wife 2nd guess everything to the point that she almost didn't go to see the new surgeon. She was so scared he was going to tell her she was crazy too and her pain wasn't real. This Doctor was amazing, instantly putting my wife at ease with a joke when she apologized in advance because she curses when she's in pain. He said that her L5-S1 was literally bone on bone and so her pain was not only real but intense, and that he wasn't allowing her to leave without a pain medication script (something she had refused for the year prior) he immediately set her up for a CT scan, to get approval from her heart doctor and got her on the surgery schedule. She had to have her spinal canal and lamia widened and a fusion. His exact words when he called me after surgery was "The 2 nerves running down her right leg were completely crushed". We still don't know if that nerve damage will be permanent, but we do know Dr. botolins complete dismissal of her serious condition was medical negligence!
This 'doctor' should not be in practice until he learns compassion and basic bedside manner. "Medical gaslighting describes a behavior in which a physician or other medical professional dismisses or downplays a patient's physical symptoms or attributes them to something else, such as a psychological condition. Medical gaslighting is especially likely to happen to women and people of color."
To do to my wife EXACTLY what medical gaslighting describes and then refuse care when she gets visibly and vocally upset is disgusting. After getting an X-ray done at 'Dr. Botolin's' request which stated she had 'severe degenerative disc disease' and then say that she shouldn't be in pain when her pulse was 122 and BP was 171/117 just from struggling to walk 15 feet is beyond ridiculous. And to follow that up with a statement that his own back likely hurts worse then hers!? I was in utter disbelief!
If you are gay, or hold a religious belief that might not align with the 'norm' don't go here because this poor excuse for a man and a despicable excuse for a Doctor guaranteed will make a decision regarding your care before he even sees you.
By the way...for your excuse of a 'DOCTORS' information, I've included what a Dr is trained to do in a situation where a patient uses a curse word, everything he didn't do.
"What do doctors and nurses do when they are cursed at by patients?"
"Doctors and nurses are trained to handle difficult patients and situations, so they have a variety of strategies for dealing with patients who curse at them. Some of these strategies include:
Remaining calm and professional: This can help deescalate the situation and prevent the patient from becoming more agitated.
Setting boundaries: It is important for doctors and nurses to set clear boundaries with patients and communicate what kind of behavior is acceptable and what is not.
Listening actively: Sometimes, patients curse at doctors and nurses because they are frustrated or in pain. By actively listening to the patient, doctors and nurses can try to understand their perspective and address their concerns.
Seeking support: Doctors and nurses may also seek support from colleagues, supervisors, or mental health professionals if they are struggling to cope with a patient's behavior.
It is important to note that patients may curse at doctors and nurses for a variety of reasons and it is not a personal attack on the healthcare professional. It is important for the healthcare professional to remain professional and not take it personally."
This Doctor needs some serious training. To state "I'm not a psychologist I'm a bone doctor" when I'm begging him to understand why my wife would be upset that he told her basically she's crazy and shouldn't be in pain is mind boggling.

I have been in pain for most of my adult life due to spinal stenosis.
It was suggested that I have a spinal fusion at level 4 /5
This procedure would take about 6 months recovery time
Dr Bolotin gave me the option of trying a less invasive procedure which if successful would
Require much less down time. If this procedure didn’t work we could always go back to the original plan.
The plan did work and I am now pain free the for the first time in years.

I am not paralyzed or in a wheelchair and I can walk on my own, thanks to the skill, experience, knowledge, and dedication of this GREAT Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Sergiu Botolin has been a God-send to me. A car accident once again left me with a severely injured cervical and lower spine. I had a very complicated medical case, and I needed a surgeon who specialized in very complicated cases. With the help of God and this highly skilled and dedicated doctor, I can still walk and use my hands.

Dr. Botolin was a very personable compassionate Dr. He took the time to go over my x-ray and MRI and explaine to me in detail what the reasons are for the pain I'm having. If he would be available, I would highly recommend him for anyone needing back care.

I had spine surgery on May 18th. Dr.Doctor Botolin saw me on my day of surgery, I believe 1 time momentarily 2 weeks after and 1 or 2 times after that. It’s been IMPOSSIBLE to see him although I have continued to voice my complaints of constant PAIN in my neck and back & being WORSE then before my Surgery.. His staff says M-F he’s in SURGERY. It gets much WORSE. I don’t recommend ANYONE in need of Spine Surgery to even consider Dr. Botolin. All you will see is his Physician Assistant and NO follow up that doesn’t result in MISTAKES.
