I wish we received the same good service that other patients have reported, but maybe we saw Dr Gessner on all of his bad days. I took my son in September of 2022 to have an ingrown toenail treated and, at the time, I asked why he chose not to use a tourniquet. He replied that tourniquets were too “dangerous”. This seemed odd to me since I had consulted a family friend in another state who was a doctor and when he explained the procedure, he stated that the use of a tourniquet was necessary so that the blood didn’t dilute the acid that would keep the toenail from growing back. I chose to trust Dr. Gessner since he was the one in the room with the medical degree, but I wish we hadn’t. I was assured by our family doctor friend that tourniquets are perfectly safe unless they’re forgotten about.
A year later my son was once again suffering with an infection in the same exact toe, just as our family doctor friend had predicted. When I called to make a follow-up appointment at Dr. Gessner’s office, I specifically asked the front office if we needed to get follow-up authorization through our insurance, Kaiser Permanente. They assured me that it was not necessary because they had the authorization from 2022, so my son went in to have the toe treated in November of 2023. Now it’s March of 2024 and once again my son has an infection in the same toe PLUS we have a bill for over $1000 because the office didn’t get the proper authorization through Kaiser Permanente. I guess I shouldn’t expect the office to know how to bill an insurance company appropriately when the doctor can’t even treat an ingrown toenail. Is it possible that he wants the ingrown toenail to keep coming back so that he can get the repeat business? Because does it really seem probable that a doctor’s office would forget about a tourniquet on a toe so long that it would be “dangerous”?

He performed a great toe joint replacement. It left me in constant pain. He accused me of drug seeking. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who removed the metal joint because my bone was not healing. Beware.

Dr. Gessner is hands down one of the best doctors I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He is kind, attentive to detail, and has an eagerness to help his patients. He has been a as wonderful resource and partner for me. I had surgery out of state with another physician, and Dr. Gessner has been helping me with all of my post op complications. He has been a saving grace for me, and I cant think of a better guy. I generally don't post reviews, but he is worth it. I highly recommend him. It's hard to find a compassionate doc nowadays. He is also intelligent and great at what he does.

On the only appointment of January 29, 2017, I saw Dr. Gessner. I bought outright a Medical boot for $60.00. It was a piece of junk. I bought on Amazon a correct Medical boot for Plantar Faciitis. I had a follow up appointment on Monday February 20, 2017. I began feeling sick with the flu on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Due to the flu I called the morning of Monday and reported I had the flu. On February 22, 2017, I received a statement that I was charged $50.00 due to missing appointment! To say the least, I will not go back and I have made a complaint with the BBB. How can you know you are going to be throwing up on a Monday and have to cancel without being able to give 24 hours notice? Very poor business management tactics.
