Dr. Berry was an exemplary doctor. One who everyone should strive to be like. One who actually takes time to do the work that best helps the patient and their quality of life. It’s a pity he’s gone. Was it that he more recently took the Hippocratic oath and it’s fresher in his mind? One can only guess, but in extreme indifference and negligence to a patient’s well being and quality of life Dr Embry ignored Dr Berry’s orders and his experience. Dr. Embry upended and discontinued his whole treatment plan. In this new day and age people are supposed to be treated with some dignity. No the patient did not go to medical school as did Dr. Embry, but there is such a thing as the internet these days, and who would of known, there are lovely doctors who post their knowledge online and make it available to the public. Doctors these days are supposed to hear a patient out and work together with them on a treatment plan. Now you definitely can feel out who you can do this with and who you can’t. I am familiar with Dunning Kruger . However, why put medication ads on television if you’re not supposed to ask your doctor any questions or participate in your healthcare? Dr. Embry ignored a doctors orders, practically called him an idiot, and in transition from one doctor to the next discontinued said patients treatment plan due to a technicality and his own bias. The good doctor must of only glanced at the chart to make his assumptions about this patient. He never even asked a question of this patient, never got to know him. Just assumptions after assumption after assumption. Leaving the patient out of whatever the clinic charges to see this “good” doctor. Oh he also left with a referral to a specialist and a psychiatrist both of which the patient would have to pay for out of pocket. Somehow Dr. Berry could treat the said patients issues without having to send him to see two other specialists but Embry is not good enough? It’s pretty much what I get out of it. It’s all too apparent that Embry has a problem sticking his values into his medicine vs. just treating the patient the way they deserve to be treated. Like a human being. Is it time for retirement? I would say so. You don’t discontinue a patients quality of life. Which is exactly what he did by pulling all the meds the patient was taking that were finally making him better.
