This experience was totally useless. It took 3 months to get an appointment. .Ok. My travel to the appointment was substantial. I wasn’t told that I would not see the physician, but , rather, his physician assistant (PA) who did not offer any assistance. He looked at a very old X-ray from another physician, and indicated that I would have to schedule again (3-1/2 months ahead) to see him with the physician. I received no service and left frustrated.

This appointment was not one! I do not recommend Dr. Ellis, Orthodedics or this practice.

I see Michelle Simonson at UC Health and I am very thankful to have met her she does a fantastic job in helping with the care I need. Also explaining everything in detail what is going on as well as being super respectful. I highly recommend her if you need a great doctor.

The Orthopedic clinic at UCHealth Greeley Hospital is amazing ! Staff are very kind courteous and efficient . I had a great experience with my total knee replacement.
My only complaint was with an ER doctor who —instead of explaining my CT scan results or providing any information about my condition— asked if I was vaccinated for Covid. When I tried to explain that I’ve had adverse reactions to vaccines in the past , he said “have fun explaining that while they intubate you …we have no beds for you here”.

The actual visit and care were fine. My issue is with billing. We had to get x-rays done, which is to be expected. Then we got the bill. $750.00 for x-rays! We called to find out why it was so expensive. They said it was because it was billed as a hospital visit. We explained that we did not visit the hospital (nevermind that there is not reason that x-rays should cost more at a hospital). We were told it's because we visited a hospital owned facility, and it's our responsibility as a patient to know that. How are we supposed to know that? There is no sign, nothing on the paperwork, nothing at all that would allow us to know that. Even if we did know, how are we supposed to know that it bills differently for the exact same service. After fighting with them for three weeks, they changed the billing code so that we only had to pay our regular co-pay. It's great that they finally changed it, but I will not go back there. To me, their billing practices are deceptive at best. At worst, it could even be considered fraudulent.

Sorry excuse for an ortho office. Grossnickle, the surgeon, is too busy to see patients, so you’ll likely be seen by one of his Hack-job PAs instead. Simonsson has a terrible bedside manner and none of her information coincides with what you’ll hear from grossnickle. Ellis is a little better, but again, can’t seem to get on the same page as Grossnickle about what kind of procedures you’ll need.

Some highlights from this terrible office: my husband didn’t see Grossnickle until the DAY BEFORE his scheduled procedure because the DR can’t be bothered with holding regular office hours. As such, he double and triple books himself, so you’ll wait more than an hour to see him. My husband was surprised with some significant changes to the surgery plan, THE DAY BEFORE, because Grossnickle and Ellis weren’t communicating what needed done (and Ellis was the only PA with appointment availability to see my husband). My husband decided to forgo the extras because they more than quadrupled the recovery time. Post-op, my husband saw ELllis a week after surgery, again because Grossnickle has 0 time for patients. Ellis disagreed with the procedure that Grossnickle did AND disagreed with Grossnickle’s discharge instructions (which had been no crutches, walking on the knee as tolerated). My husband’s knee was very swollen as a result and required extensive draining by Ellis, who then recommended crutches and no walking (A WEEK AFTER SURGERY). Upon further follow up, we get our appointment CANCELLED 15 minutes before check in, on our way to the office. Now 1.5 weeks later, my husband still has stitches, has little progress in his range of motion, and has not been seen by a physical therapist. Top notch care, for sure.
