Dr. Stephens is amazing. He diagnosed me the first time I saw him. He and his staff have improved my quality of life 100%. I have never had anyone be rude or unkind. As far as insurance for myself that has been untrue. I mistakenly signed up for the wrong insurance this year. Everyone I have come in contact with has gone above and beyond to help me. I don't know where I would be physically or emotionally if I didn't have Dr. Stephens and staff. Oh, and his infusion nurses are some of my favorite people on this earth.

The lady who handles referrals unfortunately gave me a really hard time and I have been unable to see dr Stephens. After having called the office last month and being told I had an appointment scheduled for next week and that my paperwork was already sent out in the mail (she also confirmed my address), I was all ready to drive to savannah to see him. I took off work for the day just for this appointment. I called up there to double check that my appointment was confirmed for next week. The referral coordinator informed me that my appointment was cancelled because they didn’t have my insurance. She refused to listen to what I was saying when I told her I already had a scheduled appointment and she went as far to say that I didn’t ask the right questions when I called last month to get my appointment scheduled implying that it was my fault that they didn’t ask me the questions they needed to have. I have never been talked to so rudely by someone. She told me she could reschedule me for her next available in October. After waiting several months for this appointment that they decided to cancel without reaching out to me I was extremely frustrated to be told I’d have to wait another month. She never apologized for canceling my appointment without informing me. She just kept talking over me and repeating that she needed my insurance. I work in healthcare and am well aware that you need certain information but I would NEVER just cancel someone without saying anything to them and just expecting it to be fine. I would have shown up next week after driving over an hour without any idea that my appointment had been canceled. Very upset with how this was handled.

i have been trying to get an appointment with Dr. Stephens office for a couple months, first they wanted my referral and authorization, which was provided to them. Then they needed my medical records which were faxed over to them 1 month ago. When I called to make my appt which was going to be out 3-4 months, they claimed they never received the fax, which I know not to be true because I saw the fax transmittal, when I personally went over to get my medical records. Speaking to Erin, who was extremely uppity, claimed she never received anything for me. So, because I had a copy, I faxed them over myself and called to make sure they received it. She then had Cathleen, Katherine call me back to set up an appt. By this time I am frustrated because the feeling I get is they don't want to deal with me because I 'questioned' them about their screwed up system. Of course the first appointment they could give me was Feb. 20th at 2:00 pm. I said I would take it, however, the priss on the phone kept stating I was "yelling" at her. And then proceeded to state maybe we just weren't a good fit for me to see their doctor. Of course I'm not a good fit, I've been seeing specialists since 2003 and I know how their systems are run. Really? The soonest they could see me was in February? I don't believe it. And yes, we are not a good fit because I'm not stupid and I do question all my doctors.
These specialists in Savannah think they are God himself and truth be known, they're not! So I'm gonna take my happy butt somewhere else.
Dr. Stephens, you really need to rethink your office staff. They are rude, uppity, and in my opinion, you are probably paying them way too much for the little amount of work they do. Since when is it the patients responsibility to get their medical records to you? Every phone call to your office caused nothing but frustration! Please shred my medical records that I had to fax over to your staff myself. I wouldn't care if you were the last rheumatologist on the planet, i'd rather die a thousands deaths then deal with your office staff ever again.

He doesn't follow up with his patients and his staff is extremely difficult to work with . He doesn't take calls or help you when you have been in the hospital. I would have given a 0 if it were possible.
