I went to Hartford County Oral surgery. It was a horrible experience. First of all the oral hygienist took X-rays . All was good. He answered my questions, all good. Then Dr James came in, didn’t introduce himself. Shot me up with Novacaine . Then began to struggle getting my molar out. It was so uncomfortable. He struggled, scraped the roof of my mouth. Took out what was like a power drill. The hygienist was holding my jaw still and I was sandwiched against Dr Brown . I should have been given laughing gas or some kind of sedation for a tooth with deep roots. I was left with gapping hole in my mouth that could have probably used stitches ! Scary experience.

Everything was fine up until I asked a question which was answered but was talked about after this staff member walked out the room. Just because YOU speak Spanish doesn’t mean everybody around you doesn’t ?. Being called “sangana” because I asked for options considering this is my first time getting it done I just wanted to know. What really gets me is you came back and asked me if I was “good” after speaking about me to another staff member LOL. pulled my tooth out barely cleaned the area and then hand me a bag with “instructions”. Yeah don’t come here unless you want to get poorly treated and half ass work.

I had all my teeth pulled by Dr James in preparation for who mouth implants, starting with my uppers. I see now that working with Dr James was a big mistake on my part. It took him almost 3 years to get the uppers done, and I had a lot of trouble with them. I didn't want to return to Dr James even to get them fixed as I had a terrible experience there. Come to find out, I had to have additional corrective surgery. It took only 7 months to get my lowers done -and they look and feel great. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to Dr James.

Where to start, first, my husband needed teeth pulled. They had us come in for an evaluation before scheduling surgery...needed referral which we had. Did this. Got the surgery done that week.
Great, it was fast to get him in. Surgery took 45 mins to pull 9 teeth. Said he looked great. We got home, had to call Dr James because there was teeth fragments still in him. They told him he had to come back for another evaluation before scheduling treatment. He went back AND THE HYGENIST/ASSISTANT pulled the fragments so Dr James didnt have too. Is this legal? Who cares. A month away, he is still in a lot of pain. Went to his PC Dentist, who told him they did not pull teeth properly, and did not grind down the gums so he is being sliced by his jaw bone and we needed to go back. He got an appt for 5 days from now FOR ANOTHER CONSULTATION BEFORE TREATMENT. We live an hour and a half away I called to ask them to please reschedule for a day both evaluation (for the third time, third screw up) and treatment to be done. I asked to speak with Manager who wouldnt even listen before interrupting me and telling me to put my lawyer on thephone. Didnt realize this is how management in the dental field works. Her name is Denise and she is a nasty personality. I pitty the people who have dealt with her like I have. Then, she tells me that sh3e will not "listen to me spew about dr james and the other instances that I witnessed people in reception area talk about him and his malpractice." she will have Dr James call me back and hung up on me. Do I need a lawyer? Insurance fraud? about to contact our insurance company for referrals because this is a joke. READ THE REVIEWS! HE OVERDOSED A PATIENT AND WOULDNT CALL 911! I wish i read reviews before trusting care in hands of a scam artist.

Dr. Ean James' bedside manner is atrocious. Just look up the reviews for yourself and you'll see dozens of awful reviews on other websites if you look up his name. I asked him a simple question before he extracted my tooth. I asked which numbing agent they would use and he answered Novocaine. But then he asked with an attitude: "why did you ask me that?" as if I shouldn't have questions for something I've never had done before. When he was finished pulling the tooth he rushed out the room giving me no verbal after care instructions just written ones on a piece of paper. And the written instructions weren't specific enough. For example it says to not lay your head down flat but not for how many days. And it says to gargle the next day with saltwater but not how often and for how many days. Also, the assistant (hygienist?) Who took an X Ray before I saw Dr. James had me take off my mask for the X Ray which was fine but she told me to keep it off while she walked me past the reception are which had 3 unmasked workers to bring me to the surgery room. She should have let me put it back on and take it off once I was in the surgery room. The waiting room is small too. I hope I never have to come here again but for some reason they're the only place my dentist at gentle dental refers patients to who need surgery if they have Husky even though there are many other local surgeons that accept Husky.
