I have been going to him for a good 5 years now. I called about being sick (January) and wanted to get in to see him at 9am. I was told that they need to ask him first (I am assuming because of COVID). I told them that I got tested twice and it was not COVID related. After waiting for hours, I called again at 11am and then again at 1pm. I didn't get a call back from his office telling me he wouldn't see me until 3pm!!! On a Friday!!!! They are lucky I was sleeping and didn't pick up the call. If he wasn't going to see me, he or his staff could have told me earlier in the day so that I could have made other arrangements to see another doctor. Needless to say he lost a patient of many years.

I have a client who has been trying to get in contact with him and he keeps dodging her calls and he doesn’t call back. They moved their offices without letting the patients know. The whole office is very unprofessional and I don’t know how they are in business. My clients insurance company called them while we were on hold and she said they answered her call and once they figured out who it was they put her on hold and sent her straight to voicemail. They are very rude while my client was on the phone and trying to get clarification they kept rushing her off the phone and not giving her the proper care & respect. They also lied and said they never received paperwork through the fax but the insurance company has records of them sending a fax. Just completely unprofessional, rude and flat of disrespectful.

A Physician depends or is vital his communication or relationship with patient's thru his assistants. The doctor goes to the room, listen, give you advise, prescribed, help, put everything in writing and send you home. During that time the last person you will see is again his assistant, for a follow up or anything else that the doctor wrote or instructed, is very important that those instructions got followed,...
If a patient was prescribed and had a concern cause insurace do not covered and follow thru (pharmacy, card discount, phamacy discount, pharmacist calling doctor, pharmacist sending paperwork to doctors office) and it takes 4 weeks to resolve the issue, and when you called at the end of the month, and you still not getting any answer from the "doctors office " and when you called they blamed the pharmacist, when you were there when the pharmacist send the paperwork and you have the receipt, cause they did it in front of your face and went thru; and the assistant have the audacity to say, " we received it yesterday the paperwork from the pharmacy "
Dr.Catala I'm so sorry, but one time you asked me why all the hispanic patients where gone, this is your answer, NO FOLLOW UP AND NO COMPASSION, YOUR STAFF DO NOT CARE, OR MORE SIMPLE, YOUR STAFF IS NOT THERE HAND BY HAND WORKING WITH YOU, THEY DON'T CARE... MEANING - NO PROFESSIONALISM. So sorry, cause hispanic people of Waterbury need more doctors that talk their language, cause mostly are elderly and it makes difficult for them to bring someone to translate and really be there for them, and is so sad that because the "do not care staff" they can't get the right treatment.
And I have to specified IS THE STAFF THAT WORK FOR DR CATALA NOT THE OTHERS OKAY.

DR. CATALA RETIRED EARLY THIS YEAR (2023.) NOT EVEN A COURTESY CALL OR LETTER TO NOTIFY PATIENTS, EVEN LONG TIME PATIENTS. NOW SCRAMBLING TO FIND NEW PCP AS PRESCRIPTIONS ARE OUT OF REFILL AND HE DID NOT BOTHER TO SEND NEW SCRIPTS TO PHARMACY.

Dr Catala is very efficient and works with his patients as a team. But best to see him in Wolcott office because the st Mary hospital office is too busy.
