Dr. Matta replaced both of my hips at the same time in 2015. I could not be happier with the results. I am now 100 percent pain free. I am back to hiking, biking, swimming at the lake, and am doing yoga and Pilates. I have traveled to Europe and can take long car rides again. Choosing him to be my surgeon was the best decision I have ever made. The surgery was so worth it. He is talented, kind, and very dedicated.

Matta fused my right hip after a bad car wreck because the ball and cup shattered into small pieces so there was nothing to screw the hip replacement into until it calcified years later which it has. I'm hoping to have it done soon. Dr Matta is an amazing person and his staff is as well.

The exceptionally talented Joel Matta, M.D. performed my anterior approach (R) hip rerplacement 2 years ago. As a nurse, I looked for THE BEST orthopedic team and researched for years, knowing I would eventually need this surgery. The surgery took 45 minutes and changed my life. Going from near wheelchairbound to skiing, hiking and river rafting. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I just wished that I had seen Dr. Matta a year or more earlier. Not once did I use a walker, cane or crutch. The first couple of days were a bit painful—-as Dr. Matta explained to me previously—-but I certainly walked up and down the steps and around the neighborhood the next day.

Dr. Matta, his Fellow and his PA, Kelly Strack, answered any and all questions both before the operation and afterwards.

I’m now five months post-surgery and I absolutely never think about my hip!

His surgery permanently damaged my Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Nerve in my right thigh leaving me with a permanent burning sensation ,
Meralgia Paresthetica.. This is a common result with anterior THR. The
nerve runs in various ways right where the surgery incision is made. I stressed my concerns during pre-surgery consult, . Matta lied to me,with witnesses present, stating this would not occur with his surgery because
he moves the incision away from the nerve. After I was diagnosed by several neurologists and peripheral nerve surgeons Matta stated he does not look for the nerve when he does the surgery. Avoid him and the anterior THR by having your hip replacement with the MINI POSTERIOR
APPROACH. Many top surgeons have stopped anterior approach in favor
of MINI POSTERIOR APPROACH.
