Good for a starter doctor. Easy to get an appointment that wasn't months away. Quickly and accurately diagnosed my son with ADHD and depression. Previous doctors didn't think he had severe enough issues since he was doing 'ok' in school. Doctor realized my son had sleep issues, was too smart to be making C's, struggling to keep up in class and getting detention all the time for talking in class or not paying attention. He started my son on meds and there was some change but not enough. He was reluctant to switch meds, even after we told him they weren't very effective and one had uncomfortable side effects. Didn't really listen and just kept increasing the dose. We switched to another dr, who tried different meds that are working much better and 2 years later, my son is now active, participates in class and is taking AP courses with straight A's. I will always feel that Dr Davis was the first dr who really helped and it was A LOT easier to get his next doc to listen to us with a diagnosis.

Dr. Davis is a psychiatrist not a counselor. I don't go there to spill my guts to him, I go to be informed and medicated properly. I was diagnosed years ago but never treated properly, until now. You can chat him up and he will listen. As far as wait times go it can sometimes be annoying until you see the person leaving with swollen eyes from crying but a smile across their face. That's when I quit complaining about having to wait occasionally. When you need him to hear you, he does, he takes the time needed. I've read reviews that say he's rude. I have to disagree, he is not rude, he tells you the truth. Sometimes that's hard to hear and people take offense. I hadn't felt like myself for years until I started seeing Dr. Davis. I had no idea how low I had gotten over the years, until I started feeling better, and looking back, its hesrtbreaking, how much time I lost living. I literally owe him my life!!!

Dr. Davis is a really intelligent, cool, laid-back guy. He clearly knows his stuff, and he's absolutely first class in helping you navigate through prescription costs and goes further out of his way to help you figure out your insurance and save money than literally any other health professional I've ever seen. He's fantastic! Dr. Davis regularly sat down with me when I had my old insurance, and he'd help me out with reducing med costs. My new insurance is great and that help isn't needed now, but even so he'll give me bits of advice for navigating the health insurance world in other ways.

I really enjoy talking with him, and he's even researched the latest treatments for more rare conditions on his own time just help me out even further. He's just a cool guy and really well-versed with tons of experience. I'd just like to point out that Dr. Davis is a psychiatrist, not a therapist. His job is to ask you specific directed questions, let you answer them, and ask further questions in order to learn about you and give a diagnosis. You typically see a psychiatrist to get a diagnosis and get a prescription, they specialize in diagnosis and medications.

If you are looking for a mental help professional to listen to you talk for an hour and verbally softly guide you in a better direction during your sessions, it's probably a therapist that you're really looking for, not a psychiatrist. And that's fine! People often confuse therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists, so I thought I'd point that out in my review to help out people who are trying to figure out who to see.

Dr. Davis is really nice and fantastic, but I think based on reviews many people are seeing him and not realizing that they're expecting an entirely different kind of help. He's friendly, kind, and relaxed and will certainly listen to you and help you through problems, but he's mainly supposed to do a psychiatrist's job, which is to evaluate, diagnose, prescribe, and maybe give a bit of advice for how to handle or improve things.

Nancy at the front desk is super super sweet! I've never had to make an appointment super far in advance, there's often availability the same week for follow-up appointments, but of course new appointments tend to take more time in the schedule, I think my first appointment was about a week and a half from the day I called. They run a smaller operation, so sometimes phone lines can be busy, especially during stressful pandemic times. But Nancy is great at getting back with you ASAP, but if you're not a new patient, it's easier for both sides to shoot her an email about making an appointment! (I'd also like to add that during the pandemic, all follow-up appointments are by phone only. First appointments are still face-to-face, however.)

I really really highly recommend Dr. Davis and his practice. I've had a wonderful experience with him over the last 7 months since I started seeing him. I have many online friends who get mental health help, and it seems like my experience with Dr. Davis puts him far above many psychiatrists with his in-depth knowledge, experience, and flexibility. My life and quality of life have improved SIGNIFICANTLY since I started seeing him, even with COVID-19 kicking off right after my first appointment, and I can't recommend him enough.

I booked a new pt appt with Davis in Dec 2022 n pd te supposedly refundable $100. I also made sure Davis possessed my all of my one n only former psychiatrisr recs n notes which was a lot cuz I had been under his care for 20+ yrs big
he retired. additionally Davis' office is over 60mi away which was inconvenient but I thought would be worth the time n effort to take over all mt psych needs
during our first n only appt, Davis informed me that my medications were too lg nin dosage n quantity n would only take me on as a patient at less the half my current regime for over 20yrs from one month to the next. I completely understand that every dr is different n its a doctors right n prerogative to treat as they see fit. but since Davis had my med regime n notes for over 20 yrs of care. what I don't approve of is Davis' high handed n inconsiderate actions regardingy me n my plan for psychiatric stability. Davis was unethical n rude to have decided in advance what my treatment plan or lack there of would b n that he allowed to waste my time (driving 1 hr each way), effort n mental well being not to mention hold my $100 hostage when he never had any real intention of taking me on as a patient n managing my medication regime. so unless u enjoy wasting your time, money n sanity when looking for a new psychiatrist, i warn u now don't even entertain the idea of becoming Dr Stuart Davis' patient. it won't end well.

on a side note: this all occurred in Dec 2022 n im still waiting for my deposit to b refunded, 4mos after my one n only appt.

I have become close to Dr Davis. He knows me well now. Medications depend on the condition you presented him with. I have been given extra meds when needed and then he reduces them when we no longer needed them. He has helped me a great deal to get thru the last 5 years. He is only occasionally late and that’s usually because he is fitting someone who needs him in. He does charge for not cancelling in time and sometimes but not often is late. Get to know him he is very personable and has a good sense of humor.

We have 4 of our family members that see Dr Davis. The wait times are long...however, our experiences with him have been so good that it's a worthwhile trade. The wait times are long because he DOES take as long as needed with each patient. He is abrupt at times, but it's not rudeness, it's just a matter of fact type thing. You get what you look for in people...I try to look for the good in people and that's what I find. The secretaries are very helpful and nice. If you want help, he is the person to go to. I was scared of the meds at first, but things have changed so positively for me and our family members, I trust his direction. I have taken myself off of one med over the time we've been seeing him (dropped my bp) and he was very understanding and didn't push me to try again.

I have to agree with the other negative reviews: the wait time can be very long, he does prescribe numerous medications & the receptionist is not always helpful. I was over medicated to the point my family noticed. They likened my mood to that of a zombie. When I think back to it I have to agree. I'm not the type of person to tell someone how to do their job but in this situation, it didn't help me one bit. I didn't protest the numerous medications because I believed he knew better than I did. I didn't feel like any of the medications were helping after a while. Rather I was just numb or blah. I asked a relative to come with me to an appointment so Davis understood it wasn't "just in my head." The ONLY plus is he does spend extra time with you if you need it
