Surgery went well. I don't drive and Dr sent scripts to the wrong drug store!! Now nobody calls me back. 10 Pins and screws and nothing for pain or antibiotics. Was getting other foot done in 6 weeks
Shame good surgeons but bad office help because his nurse said they didn't call them in!!?!! Well, who did? Some called into wrong store. Now I have to find another surgeon who will give me the scripts before the surgery! And I really liked the Dr 😭.

My appointment with Dr Szabo left me completely distraught. He managed to crush my hopes, insult my doctors, make me feel stupid and overwhelmed because I dared to ask questions, and proceeded to walk out on me after stating that I’d taken up too much of his time because I wouldn’t make a instant decision on care, all in under 10 minutes. I wouldn’t recommend Dr Szabo if he was the last doctor in Augusta. Not only does he have no capacity for kindness or patience, but he also acts like he’s the smartest person in the room and everyone else is just stupid.

I have been seeing Dr.Szabo for a little over a year and he has always been able to diagnose quickly. Fix quickly. He listens and is very polite. And his assistant Rain is a joy and a big help as well. When I was done trying different approaches to my pain he was all but willing to go ahead and do surgery for a permanent fix. He is the best I’ve seen and I recommend him to any and everyone that has trouble with their feet. Good jobs you guys. Keep it up. From a very satisfied patient

The reviews here are mixed, and many seem to agree with my impression of Dr. Szabo. I have a feeling that those who get along with him either never question him, or have a very straightforward case without any pre-existing conditions. I was referred by my primary at the time to see him due to a nail issue I have been having, that didn't respond well to previous treatment. In the interim period, I spoke with the physician that treated me previously, and thought about cancelling the appointment, but since then, I have had multiple episodes of edema in my legs and feet. I have an underlying condition, but the symptoms I have been experiencing are a new development, so I was not sure what the causitive factor was. Dr. Szabo said, "Why did they refer you to me? This is systemic! I can't do anything about this." Then he proceeded to scold me for not treating the other condition I have, and I said to him that doctors need to be more realistic about issues with insurance coverage, the effects a high-cost illness on a benefit plan can have on the security of one's employment, and the current economy. My countering him obviously annoyed him, because the doctor simply is not to be challenged. He also didn't like it when I told him that research into my illness has been historically underfunded, or that I pointed out the disparity in funding for issues that predominantly affect women. He then got on a soapbox about breast cancer research funding vs. prostate cancer. His ignoring the history of women being excluded from research studies over concerns of results being impacted by their hormonal fluctuations, and the historical underfunding of research into several health concerns that affect women more than men, is unacceptable. Perhaps he should look at the amount of funding the NIH put into healthcare disparity research last year. He seemed to take my stating that my health concern was underfunded and that it is frustrating as a woman and a patient as a personal attack, as he is male. I have dealt with too many doctors with attitudes like Dr. Szabo's in my life, and the specialist three years ago who diagnosed me with the other health concern I mentioned, patronized me and discounted my concerns until I firmly demanded more testing. He then had to admit I had been right that something was wrong with my health. I have had some good male doctors, but I also have had those that think that women are just annoying and hormonal and that they have no right to question anything or advocate for themselves regarding their health. Perhaps Dr. Szabo needs to go to some of the online discussion groups of patients of diseases that affect a greater percentage of women than men, and learn of how they are routinely treated by the medical profession. It might take him down a few pegs. To add insult to injury, as I was leaving the examination room after him, I saw him waving his hands in exasperation and saying, "just clear my schedule for the rest of the day" to his nurse. I said the nurse, "Gee I really ticked him off, didn't I?" She pursed her lips and was silent. I walked out and told the front desk the appointment was completely useless. Meanwhile, I have a high-deductible plan, so I am likely get to pay $200-300 out-of-pocket to have put up with Dr. Szabo's attitude and to have no progress in treating my health issues.

Dr. Szabo seems to understand podiatry quite well; diagnoses were accurate and thorough. His bedside manner, however leaves a great deal to be desired. He was outwardly demeaning and judgmental in my first visit. It's an unfortunate situation, especially since young medical students are learning from him.

Big difference in salaried doctor compared to private. You're in an assembly line. No explanations, or verbal instructions, prescroptions for duplicate meds. Surgery canceled less than 24 hour notice. Inconvienced ride ( 55 miles) help and their schedule, interrupted critical blood thinner unnecessarily for 5 days, then another interruption for the real surgery. No discussion of diabetic meds. 3 if 4 prescriptions written, already have. Uninterested redundancies,
Noticed all compliments from men patients, women complain

I was referred to Dr Szabo by my Primary care physician. I was not impressed at all!!! At my appointment, I explained to the Dr my problems that I was having, needless to say "he is telling me how I...I repeat...he is telling me how "I" feel, even after seeing the xrays with my bone pressing against my skin (causing pain) he advised his assistant to shave the skin down, which is painful, so before the Dr left the room, I asked if he could give me something for pain, HE( Szabo) LAUGHED, then looked at his assistant SMIRKED AND LEFT the room WITHOUT answering OR addressing my question! UNPROFESSIONAL-ISM AT IT'S FINEST!! I NEED a Dr that actually listens and understands...AND DR. SZABO IS NOT ONE OF THOSE DOCTORS, YOU ARE ONLY A NUMBER, WITH 10 MINUTES MAX OF HIS TIME!!!

Dr Zsabo needs to work on his listening skills. I told him about my pain in my ankle and he said you must have back problem. I said No I don't have back problems and with out an exam he ignored that what I said and insisted that I have back issues. I politely told him that since I have a say so in my care plan that I would like to see a neurologist.
We all can learn to listen, that's if we care about whats going on......
