The staff was overall great, extremely kind & helpful. HOWEVER, this is one of the dirtiest medical facilities I’ve ever experienced. When we were first moved to a room I noticed the trash all over the floor, hair, stains.

I sympathize with healthcare systems and understand they are severely understaffed and overworked. The room we were in had a pull out toilet. My son had to use the bathroom and we were instructed to use that toilet due to there being a wait for the one available bathroom in the emergency department. The toilet in our room, under our sink was full of feces. I’ve never been so disgusted! The nurse was extremely apologetic and took care of “it” but there is no excuse for a medical facility to be that unkept. I’m honestly worried that we will end up sick from being there because it’s obvious there is a major, MAJOR problem. I did not take photos of the toilet for obvious reasons but of other filth.

My husband was brought in by ambulance after having a medical emergency while on vacation. The reception staff needs better training. Completely clueless and rude. The medical staff are extremely lacking any bedside manner. I can understand all the bad reviews we have read unfortunately this hospital was our only option but I will say I would never trust them with the care of my children. And the fact that this photo is hung in there ER rooms just shows they are the problem if they constantly have people getting upset with them! They expect respect and dignity well guess what it works both ways! Do better!

Absolutely terrible medical care ! Arrogant, rude and disrespectful staff . I find their sign about "Aggressive behavior not being tolerated at check in very ironic. Maybe they should educate their staff better, work on improving their communication skills and improving communication within their radiology department in general and check on their OWN STAFF behavior and counsel them on aggressive behavior. I was in a room half dressed and in a robe for a mammogram when the supervisor Lisa started raising her voice and yelling and being argumentative . when I asked that I just have my mammogram done so I can leave and not be yelled at any longer in a belligerent manner, she left the room but not before slamming the door as she exited ! Unprofessional would be an understatement. Aggressive, intimidating and unethical behavior. I truly understand all the other negative reviews here now and can empathize with other patients . Additionally, I hope that my health was not jeopardized because of the ordeal I had today and the refusal to perform tests that my medical doctor ordered and my insurance approved ! I have had them done without difficulty for many years before this terrible experience . oh ! and another reason to not waste your time here , Atlantic Radiology reads the films from the hospital ! They don't even have their own staff radiologists at the hospital facility ! Save yourself all the aggravation and subpar level of care, and the higher hospital copay, go directly to Atlantic Radiology or somewhere else entirely !

This is where people go to die. If whatever illness you’re facing doesn’t kill you, the medical malpractice of the staff certainly will!!! This is the first hospital I have seen where they have numerous doctors on Zoom, not in person, giving actual hands-on care. My grandmother was here battling sepsis they gave her morphine (which medical studies show morphine induces sepsis) and it caused her to code and need to be intubated. They improperly intubated her and caused internal bleeding. They stopped the morphine and she improved and was able to get the tube out of her throat and breath on her own. Guess what apparently they are so understaffed and incompetent a “visiting” weekend nurse gave her morphine again! This nurse had not been caring for my grandmother and apparently didn’t speak to any of the other nurses or my grandmothers power of attorney my uncle before giving her morphine again!!! My grandmother went from being up and talking and breathing on her own to coding and intubated again shortly after being given morphine. When my family confronted these incompetent morons they tried to say it wasn’t the morphine when they specifically were giving her fentanyl and propofol instead of morphine because of the first code. But wait there’s more after they almost killed my grandma my family finally got her transferred out of there. Her first day at the new hospital (today) they discover she is positive with COVID! The staff at the new hospital is shocked she was never tested at this facility. If you have a loved one in the ICU here they most likely have COVID. The nurses in that icu are overworked, undertrained, and unsanitary. I saw a nurse eating pizza out her hand with no plate in the sterilized ICU and not wash her hands the first before going to see patients. Also when they touch the patients no gloves no masks and if they went to the faucet they washed their hands for 2 seconds. I say all this to say unless you want your loved one to die do not I repeat do not seek care here. Charleston or Savannah has way better educated and trained staff that are in person and not being rolled around on a computer that actually know what they're doing. These people supposedly took an oath to do no harm but my grandma is in a worst condition than when she went in due to the malpractice and incompetence of this facility.

5 Stars to the ER staff - thank you for your care! I got in and out in 3 hours at the most.
"0" for the admin. that took my information. I rec'd a "TEXT" today requesting I call a # & provide my BC/BS info. so my bill could be processed. There's no way I would of left the hospital if I didn't provide insurance info.
A hospital rep. should contact me, apologize for the ineptness of the process & then obtain my info. How do I know the "Text" & # I received was legit? Email me or call me - be professional about $1,000's of dollars for health care.
This whole process was wrong and not secure so I called HH Hospital's Billing dept. The rep. asked too many verification questions while not caring about this concern, had no answers and did not offer to forward my concern. Apparently there was NO manager to speak with and I advised the rep he's getting a zero on my Google review - he did not care.
I'm questioning whether I really talked to anyone at Hilton Head Hospital today - it appears it's outsourced. Drop all of them like a hot potato and try to match the excellent health care professionals that do their job well. This was unacceptable!

Zero stars. I took my 26 year old daughter's boyfriend to the ER while vacationing on Hilton Head last October .He was feeling lightheaded so we went to the ER since there were no urgent care facilities open at the time. He had basic labs work and some IV fluids and saw the ER physician for less than 5 minutes. He was dehydrated , labs were normal and discharged within 3 hours. I recently found out that he was charged $5000 for the visit. He has a high deductible plan so is responsible for the payment. Obviously they coded this incorrectly and/or they are taking gross advantage of people . Their website gives no phone numbers or email addresses for administration or the people in charge of billing . I am totally disgusted and outraged! I would like to get a response from administration!

I do not recommend this hospital unless you have no other alternative. Go to urgent care or a hospital in Savannah or Bluffton.
I ended up there in October after suffering a fall while on vacation. I needed an x-ray of my face and of my arm. The x-rays were taken by a student, and I was told that nothing was broken. When I returned home, several days later and still in pain, I went to a local urgent care and had the x-rays redone. Unsurprisingly, both my nose and my arm were broken.
The bill for a three hour ER stay with indifferent care and obviously incorrect diagnosis was almost $4000 after insurance discounts. I absolutely do not recommend this hospital.

I made the mistake of going to the HH emergency room a few months ago and told them I wasn’t sure if it was an emergency but I would like to see a doctor. I let them know I was uninsured, would be paying out of pocket and was sensitive to costs. They send me a link to fill out forms but told me not to complpete it until after I saw the doctor. Before I could review any paperwork I was brought back by a nurse to check my blood pressure, I described my condition and once again told her I was self pay and sensitive to costs.

She then took me back to meet with a doctor who diagnosed my condition and told me it wasn’t worth prescribing anything. After spending no more than 5 minutes with him I then began to fill out the lengthy paperwork and went back to the front desk to pay. I almost fell over when I was presented a bill for close to $3K to which she said that they would bill me for. I have since been sent confusing statements of varying amounts and after paying off $800 and being told that was my final bill now I get another bill from the doctor!

There is no other business in the world that could get away with this type of business practices. No one could tell me how much my visit would cost until after and I wasn’t given time to review the forms until after I saw the doctor. Now I know why. I am still trying to clear up this nightmare! Our healthcare system is broken.
