My first, and hopefully my last surgery went spectacularly beyond any expectations I ever had.

The quality of the care from the surgeons to the young people who brought the food and picked up the trays were all attentive positive, and obviously enthusiastic. The nursing staff were without exception, professional, intelligent, extremely pleasant, attentive and personable.

When I found out that San Marcos had private rooms as standard with huge widescreen TVs, remote control blinds on the windows, views of the surrounding city beyond, well, I was totally shocked. That made my five day recovery very easy.

It sounds strange to recommend a hospital as nobody wants to actually end up in one, but if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing emergency care, the folks at Kaiser Permanente and especially the ones at the San Marcos location in San Diego county rank at the top.

Thank you all for saving my life.
Bob.

I can say with full confidence that this hospital has some truly incredible staff! My birth experience was everything and more because of the labor and delivery area, and most importantly the staff on hand. I’ve never been treated with such respect, love, care and by a group of women that followed my birth plan to the best of their abilities. Not only does it have wonderful labor and delivery care, but the postpartum care/lactation staff are incredible as well. They helped me gain so much confidence in breast feeding. And lastly I had a situation shortly after birth where I needed to go to the ER, once again the staff had never been so kind, understanding, empathetic and respectful towards me. This is the kind of hospital I would go to for the rest of my life, not just me but for my whole family

Hospital stay in San Marcos CA was the best experience I have ever had from Nursing staff to Emergency Room Doctors to their staff. Everyone was extremely professional and caring. If I ever have to go to the hospital again. For sure it'll be at that hospital..I give them 5 STARS.

KP has always been our healthcare provider, witnessed its growth in SOCAL. We were very glad and thankful when they built the SM Medical facility as we lived close by. Then, came the hospital. Gosh! Were we thrilled about it, not realizing that soon after it opened, I wud be admitted to the ER, to being a patient. The experience of having to be taken care of genuinely and with compassion by well trained, knowledgeable staff, doctors & nurses in a very modern, clean & with advanced technology in healthcare innovation was beyond our expectations. A few days ago, I was confined again and received the best care from the ED staff, to the doctors and nurses who calmly assured me that there was nothing to fear of, made sure that I was comfortable every step of the way. The nurses were kind, efficient friendly and respectful. The doctors are the same, willing to listen as they check up on you. Thus, I won’t trade KP for anything else. It will always be my Health Guardian, my “one go to place” for our health care needs. More power to you KP!!!

Had a great experience at this location in recovery after surgery the nurse Anthony was amazing and very thoughtful. He and his wife. He even got me a mango smoothie to help with recovery after surgery. The entire team with Dr Bacarse was amazing. I felt very comfortable with the team. Highly recommend surgery staff.

I had mixed feeling for a long time since giving birth at this facility. L&D went well and most the nurses there were nice. While in recovery I was treated well. I did not like that I was assigned a student nurse. My hand my iv was in is not the same. I have a hard lump in it now where the iv was and I don’t know what went wrong. I also felt like I was rushed to leave at discharge. I had a lot of stuff… I was there all weekend, they wouldn’t wait for my husband to come help me with the rest of my things after pulling our car to the front. They threw my flowers in a plastic bag… I was given endless assessments for ppd. I had depression while I was pregnant then they said I had ppd after. They would not extend my leave so I could treat my ppd and have time to bond with my baby. My midwife would not adjust my meds and would not give me additional time off. I was pushed off to psychiatry. I spoke with a therapist first and he told me she 100% could have taken care of the paperwork needed to extend. He told me midwife and ob/gyn can do it. He also told me Kaiser flags people who request sdi extension for ppd as just wanting additional time off. I assume that is what they did to me. With my medical history and everything I went through idk why they did not believe me and allow me the time I can legally take. I was told “don’t you still have bonding time” at my 6 week checkup when I told the midwife I was still struggling. The same midwife that was 45 mins late to my virtual visit and rushed through my appointment. How can I bond when I am not well. I was told at 6 weeks pp to follow up with my primary for medication adjustment and talk to psychiatry. This pushed me closer and closer to the deadline to turn in paperwork for an extension(in order to keep my job protection). The therapist also told me to get time off I have to be admitted to a hospital and then cps gets involved. So I have to lose my baby to get the time off I need to recover from ppd. I feel like after delivery you are pushed to the side and they don’t actually care how you feel after. My primary made sure to tell me how her nurse got 6 months additional time off work after delivery. I wonder if they made her get admitted… Interesting.
