I went to see Dr. Maguire (hand surgeon) because I had a painful affliction called trigger thumb in *both thumbs. The first attempt at treatment was a prescription for methylprednisolone tablets (a steroid that relieves swelling). That treatment had no effect, so then Dr. Maguire injected me with Triamcinolone (another anti-inflammatory steroid, but more powerful) at the base of both of my thumbs. This started working after about a week and provided much needed relief to both of my thumbs. I was extremely thankful since the next step was surgery.

Dr. Maguire is knowledgeable and has a pleasant bedside manner, and his office workers are very nice and flexible with appointment times, etc.

My surgeon went on vacation immediately after my surgery and left my pain level uncontrolled and he did not have a replacement or backup surgeon on call. My stitches were pulling and his office staff didn’t call any pain medication in and just repeated Dr. Maguire was on vacation and unreachable. My PCP had to order Oxycodone for me until Dr. Maguire’s return. After that visit he only took out 2 stitches and pulled at the others, which hurt my hand more. He didn’t give me any medicine after that.
