The therapy team was excellent and getting therapy 6 days a week was very helpful in my recovery. Rose (PT) was wonderful - she went above and beyond her PT requirements. When I was ready to give up, she stayed with me and talked to me until I calmed down. She knew just what to say and do. She is so kind and caring (& very good at PT, too)!!
The Manor Care staff was wonderful. They treated me with kindness and respect; like I was family.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the kitchen service.

It gave me so much joy in my heart to see my grandmother smiling. Life isn't easy and there's a lot of different people in this world. We all have experienced something that set us in our ways. I know the woman I love very much is being given the help she truly needs. I can sleep better now because ManorCare is providing a service I was unable to do. I will always appreciate them for the support.

My mom has been in the Memory Care unit at ManorCare for over a year, and my brother and I are pleased with her care. The staff are sweet to her and attentive to each of the patients. They talk to my mom and appreciate her smiles and conversation, even though it may be difficult to understand her. Taking care of those with dementia takes a special kind of nurturing and understanding person, and those are the kind of aides and nurses that ManorCare hires to help our loved ones be comfortable. The facility is clean and each meal is presented nicely to the patients. I think the most important thing I notice is that the patients are treated with respect, and we're so grateful that.

Manor Care has come a long way in recent years. My Sister had visited a few times years ago when recovering from surgery. They got a new Administrator who really changed things around. My sister became a permanent resident in June of 2018. Since being admitted they have helped her wounds heal that at home, never would. During Covid, they received the highest results from an inspection team that commented it was the best grade they had given out to any Health Care facility. I live out of state, but speak with my sister weekly. She is happy, has no complaints, and I am kept well informed by the staff on how many cases are present both with the staff and the residents. In the past three weeks there have been no changes. Ultimately, I think the measure of a facility isn't 'Would I place my loved one there?' rather, 'Would I want to be placed there?' I would like to be placed in a facility as good in so many ways, as Manor Care on Foulk Rd. They are respectful, attentive, informative, and careful with the needs and care for my Sister. Their current staff has proven to me that a facility can improve. I would say that the staff here, are working there, for all the right reasons.

My mother was recently discharged after being cared for at Manor Care for 3 weeks during November of 2019. While in their care she received excellent care. I don't know that you will have the same experience we did. The intake and discharge left a lot to be desired. The care provided during the stay was excellent. The physical therapy is outstanding. The Administrator and unit manager went above and beyond to be responsive to my concerns and made themselves available to me as needed. The doctor did his rounds too early, I never saw him, he never contacted me. My mother felt he was non nonchalant about her foot pain which turned out to be nerve damage which required a cortisone shot. When my mother arrived the ambulance paramedics placed her on a bed on a Sunday night and no one came to greet us, take vitals or ask medical questions. The person responsible for that was casual about his duties and gave me the feeling he was absorbed in his phone although I don't know that to be the case. My Mom was intimidated that first night and one male nurse on third shift made us even less comfortable by his serious demeanor. The third shift supervisor on duty listened to my Moms complaints and that made her feel better. The very next morning was Monday and I met with the administrator as soon as possible and she listened to my concerns and took notes. She addressed everything I brought up. The following three weeks were followed by great care. I believe this is partly due to my being an involved patient advocate and seeing myself as a partner in the healing process. Only by working with the people providing the care can we help our loved ones. Manor Care appeared to be all business and a hive of activity during normal business hours Monday through Friday. This is when they shine. After 6:00pm and on weekends the place is so quiet it creeps me out. There is minimal staff during this time and the patients stay quietly in their rooms. This is good for patients who should do things for themselves, but it might be a big problem for someone who needs help with toileting and/or eating. The nurses I met were fantastic. I wish there were more of them on duty but in the end everything worked out. I feel discharge was rushed due to insurance regulations I still don't understand. The social work element fell apart due to miscommunication the week of discharge. Someone dropped the ball when their plan A fell through. No plan B provided. I'm still dealing with that but I guess that is my problem. Although I have some criticisms, it appears new management is in place and they are doing an outstanding job. Monday through Friday during normal business hours this is a 5 star facility. The lower level of compassion, empathy and human connection as well as staffing during off peak hours makes this a 4 star. If Manor Care could develop better patient rapport and run the place 24/7 like they do during normal business hours than this would be easily be a 5 star facility. There is no doubt in my mind that we received the best care and extremely fortunate to have Manor Care. My criticisms are meant to help the facility identify their weaknesses and to help new patients and their families understand what we felt in case it helps them prepare for admission. Manor Care Wilmington, the Administrator, the Unit Manager, the Physical Therapists and most of the nurses I met are super people and deserve our gratitude. If we have to do this again, we would gladly come back to Manor Care Wilmington.

My families experience with Manor Care Foulk Rd was absolutely terrifying! My mother was there for rehabilitation after an arm injury. On more than 1 occasion, I overheard the staff talking negativity about her and with an arm and bed monitor due to being a fall risk. She walked out if the facility with no alarms and/or whistles indicating she was up from her bed not thinking she exited the building! My brother received a phone call from a neighbor residing off Foulk Road that he found my mother wandering off Foulk Road. Thank God he brought her in to contact one of us. It was also late summer and extremely hot! Manor Care never knew she was gone until my brother brought her back. After the meeting with management the next day, nothing was ever resolved. Of course "they are so sorry", no excuse!!! This is our mother who is cherished and loved dearly! Not just a number or another pain in the...! To all, do your due diligence with regard to care for your loved one!!!! From what I've witnessed over the years, most of these employees just want a paycheck and really dont care about the patients. In all fairness to Manor Care they aren't the only rehabilitation facility that could use a total overhall!!!!

My Mother been there just a few days. So far it's been awful! They were not even getting her up to go to the bathroom until I asked why last night. They have had her sitting in diapers. She is able to walk. When she rings her call bell she sometimes waits over an hour. I just called the desk and no one even answered. She's calling me everday in tears. This is unacceptable!

After spending over 1 week in another rehab center (in Middletown), this place was a breath of fresh air! I had a rough start, since I’d been in bed in the hospital for five long months with numerous problems all starting with Covid pneumonia. My first full day there, sitting upright in a wheelchair for several hours was so hard for me. I soon came to understand that Rehab is not a walk in the park, and everything was going to be hard for me… the first time!

I can’t speak more highly of my PT, Rose, who explained everything she wanted me to do, and why. “Jane from OT” was equally as helpful and clear in her instructions. I struggled with what I thought was slow progress, but they both constantly assured me I was doing great.

It took me a while to figure out who was a nurse and who was an aide, but I never was ignored or left for very long unattended. If I put my light on, someone would check on me right away, and if my need was not urgent I was asked if I could wait a minute while they finished what they were doing. I soon learned that they really did care about me as an individual, and everyone only wanted the best for me.

Visiting time was liberal, and I had
many visitors, all treated with courtesy and respect by the employees. Some even came after visiting hours (they came from very far away, and the receptionist knew I was waiting for them)
The nurses and aides were wonderful about teaching me and my daughters and husband, whoever was with me, the after care I would need to do when I got home.
My aide Debbie was also wonderful at teaching us how things could be done that seemed impossible to me. I can still hear her saying “put it on like a tee shirt!” I think of her every morning when I get dressed!

Vashti was my nurse for much of my time, especially toward my discharge, and was very helpful with tips for when I got home.
As much as I wanted to be home with my family, when my discharge date came, I was torn about leaving all these wonderful people who had helped me so much and had become like family.
Rehab is hard work, but having compassionate, knowledgeable people encouraging you through it make it a “do”able struggle.
Shout out to Kirk, a PT who helped out with my care and all the other PTs, OTs and STs that worked with me. I can’t recommend this place enough.
By the way, it’s very clean; the maintenance crew takes care of your concerns quickly, and the nutritionist came to visit to see what I wanted to eat!
