I am very appalled by the experience we had at Nova Dental in Cromwell. I
brought my two daughters here for cleaning about a month ago, interestingly, we met the two ladies, at the front desk, who we later got to know were mother and daughter, Stephanie and her Mom.
They greeted us nicely, not too long before our scheduled hygienist came by, i stand to be corrected, but I think her name Maria?...
from the very get go, she instructed we filled out paper work to which she was immediately informed we already had.
I will like to brief this as much as I can, so the hygienist came for us, her whole attitude towards us was quite demeaning, you could tell she wasn't accepting/acceptable of our presence, she did not respond when we said hello to her.
When she finally.
was ready for one of my girls she spoke for the first time since we went inside, and said my younger daughter and Myself needed to get out, which absolutely was procedure for x-rays, so it wasn't what was said but how it was said ; we got out, then back in when she was done. Suddenly she started talking and I had no idea what she was saying, so I asked if whatever she was muttering was meant for us, she then said your daughter can go and sit down at the reception, which I found distasteful as such, I immediately and politely dis commended that idea and explained to her I was uncomfortable with my daughter going to sit out there by herself, besides, it's important I stayed with the one she's working on also, and on top of that the younger daughter is next to have her teeth cleaned too.
Here on out she didn't talk to us any longer, but on the spur of the moment I heard and saw my oldest daughter express some pain, as I'm trying to figure out what just happened, this woman almost kinda squelched my daughter and asked her "what are you saying ouch for? and you need to lay down straight "!!!
Now, my daughter is not a baby, she is 12 years old, so you DON'T, whether intentionally or not if she felt poked whilst getting her teeth cleaned, shush her.
I asked my daughter what it was,She said she was poked, and I consoled her subsequently.
We went through a similar atmosphere with her attitude towards my younger daughter, all through this I remained calm.
Succeeding that, we saw the doctor as usual and she was quite frankly enjoyable.
On our way out I needed a doctor's note, so I asked the hygienist.....
"Go to the front "she said, rudely!
So I asked them at the desk whom I needed to talk to?
About the horrifying experience we just went through.
They immediately apologized on the hygienist's behalf, and even explained that, because of possibly her accent and everything that comes with that, she probably didn't understand me.
I told them, that what happened was beyond accent issues, it's just one human Being, being unkind, devaluing and dehumanizing another.
They then told me not to worry, and that, they will not schedule us with her again .
I went in my car and brought them some souvenirs ,earrings and bracelets including Maria,(if the name is still accurate)
Not because she was humane, but because I carry within me kindliness she knows nothing about.
In case she doesn't like it, they suggested they'd give it to the doctor.
Everything was fine, or so I thought, after getting reassurance that, we wouldn't have to deal with her again when I called later that day.
This review only came about when I got a letter today10/17/24 that they are uncomfortable to keep us as patients because of our dissatisfaction during our last visit.
