Every experience with my practitioner, Sarah Smith, (and the support staff) of Piedmont Physicians Group / Dr. Joel Garrision is memorable and enjoyable. Sarah is consistently a model practitioner, and has shepherded me through several evolutions in my recent three years or so, with her experience evident at every step. She has a calming, measured approach to everything that arises, and transfers knowledge and advice simultaneously, with grace and style to match. Her calm and positive manner, as well as her organization skills and productivity, are no doubt a great example to the younger professionals beginning their careers around her.

Sarah Smith is an outstanding asset for her local office and for her organization as a whole, and her professionalism and know-how reflect highly upon the Piedmont organization! I recommend her highly!

I made the first available appointment to establish care with Dr. Poynter several months ago and visited yesterday. To say she was worth the wait wouldn’t adequately describe how beyond grateful I am to now be one of her patients! I have medical anxiety and doctors appointments are very nerve wracking for me, but she set me at ease. I already knew that I love piedmont, but this specific office and group of medical professionals blew me away! The whole team is kind, patient and thorough! I’m so glad to be able to place my care in their hands.

I looked up online to see if they took my insurance and it said they did. I got there and they said they actually don't take my insurance. They told me self pay was $111. I paid that. I just got a bill from them for another $250. These people are liars. Do not go here unless you want to be lied to and ripped off.

Dr.Tangel!!! I can’t praise her enough. I’ve had horrible experiences at other primary care offices but after seeing Tangel for the first time I am blown away.
The amount of care and love she has for her patients is amazing.
She took her time with me answered all questions and promised she’s is going to help me get better.
I never had a doctor who cared as much as she does.
If you’re thinking about using piedmont PCP DO IT!!!

I had one of the best doctors experience here! I came in as a new patient and was seen exactly at my appointment time. In total for waiting, seeing the nurse and doctor, and getting 2 tests done it took a total of one hour. Dr. A was attentive and caring. She took time to go through everything with me in my history and I didn’t feel like she was rushing to get to the next patient. She is a super nice person! I will absolutely be going back again and would refer anyone to her.

I saw Dr. Elisha Poynter for the first time yesterday as a new patient. She was outstanding. She listened to my rambling about various health issues and information I shared about my wife who will be a new patient also. Dr. Poynter's sincere manner, breadth of knowledge, and ability to process information quickly are unusual assets and praiseworthy.

I had a previous review on here over a year ago praising this practice and staff, but this place has really gone down hill since then. Front desk people are kind but don’t know what they’re doing half the time. They said they never received a fax from another doctor even though it was clearly sent. And when they finally did send the requested files, most of the data was missing and completely useless.

Forget about using them as your child’s pediatrician - the office never answers the phone and take forever to respond to calls and messages on mychart. They also don’t allow a delayed schedule for vaxxines in any form. The woman who does bloodwork is incompetent and injured my arm both times I’ve had blood drawn at this clinic - bruising and severe pain. If that’s not enough, my doctor told me the bloodwork showed I had certain issues but after bringing it up with another doctor, I was told they were actually due to my pregnancy AND not fasting.

I used to love this place and the staff used to be kind and compassionate, but not anymore. I used to be able to message my doctor with questions/concerns, but now, everything is one-word answers without any compassion. The MA Lorena is not very hospitable and is rude over messages. The only good thing left about the place is the kind front desk staff. Dr. Garrison was also always very kind and compassionate. My experience with Dr. Poynter however, has gone downhill.

My husband has been to this practice twice in the last two years for his annual physical and considers this to be his PCP. Last year he went in and wasn't given an opportunity to ask any questions, but he thought this was a one time occurrence since he is young and healthy. They did follow up on his bloodwork and he assumed that this would answer the questions he never got to ask.

A year later and his problems are still relevant. He went in this morning to see Dr. Poynter, which I will get to in a minute. He felt the nurse was incompetent and when asked if the pharmacy on file is correct, he asked "which pharmacy is on file, I've moved recently" but the nurse was unable or unwilling to see which pharmacy was on file.

He said as soon as Dr. Poynter came in for the exam she was dismissive and never asked him if he had questions or concerns. Before rushing out the door, he was able to ask a few of his questions, but never got the opportunity to finish asking his questions. He asked for a food allergy panel because he's noticed food sensitives. He said she was shocked that he wanted one and she had to look up what they offered, but neither test offered was completely comprehensive and he noticed they left off several top allergens. He knows what to look for as I've had a food allergy panel recently (from a different practice) and was tested for the top 100 common food allergies, and his test covered only 15 foods.

He was also frustrated that his appointment was for 8:30 with an arrival time of 8:15 and she didn't see him until 9:00, and was in the room for less than 5 minutes. We understand time is valuable, but if she is only spending 5 minutes in each room and dismissing her patients, why was he seen 45 minutes after his arrival?

My husband will not be back to this practice and we will not be recommending this to any family or friends. We are highly disappointed in the lack of care that Piedmont seems to offer their patients.
