My entire family, including my adult children are patients of Dr. Docena for years. He is very accommodating and will get you in for same day visit if you call early enough. He is thorough, performs labs and EKG in office. He isn't alot of talk but is to the point and gets you referred or scheduled to get to the bottom of your current issues. I've recommended friends that were also pleased with his level of care.

I have been going to Dr Docena for about 10 years now.I actually change doctors because he wanted me to have a mammogram and a Pap smear of course I didn’t wanna do it. After changing doctors the other doctor wanted me to do the same thing. Not that I should be doing it but I was procrastinating and just didn’t want to do it.So I went back to Dr Docena Where Iwas already comfortable at.I feel he is very straightforward and ask all the right questions trying to understand my issues. He’s very thorough with bloodwork and medication. I have recommended several people to him and he would not give him any medications for their issues until there was blood work done. I feel that’s fair why waste his time or your time not getting the correct medication. I appreciate Dr Docena and his wife and I will continue to go there faithfully.

My mother just went and saw Docena for an anxiety appointment. Anxiety is really hard to control and my mother is going through a hard time right now. Docena pretty much told her she didn’t have any excuse and refused to prescribe her anything. And that there was no point of her going in there. My mother left in tears. That is absolutely ridiculous and honestly he should just retire! If you want to be treated fairly I would seek treatment elsewhere!!

I went to see Dr. Docena last summer. My neck was swollen and hurt so much. I had been getting hot and cold flashes. He dismissed me and said I just slept funny on my neck. I kept telling him something was wrong and he refused to listen. Turns out I had a bacteria infection in my thyroid and it was barely functioning. I pleaded for lab work and he said no. I will never ever go back to him. I had to go to a new doctor to get diagnosed. It looks months for me to get better. Thank god I chose to find a new doctor.

Dr. D is an excellent doctor. He is the only doctor I trust not to prescribe me something that I really don't need or might have a reaction too. He may be a tough cookie but that is for your own benefit. He stays on top of your blood work and whenever you are not feeling well you can always be seen the same day.

After several interactions over a few months, I have to conclude Docena has no bedside manner, and is unwilling to elaborate on medical diagnosis. He pushed for me to make behavior changes to help with a diagnosed medical issue, but when questioned on what changes I should make he grew angry and reduced my script of medication further in what I can only presume is spite. I generally agree with his perspective of being cautious on using medication, but this sort of behavior is deeply unsettling from a medical professional. Asking for information after being told you are doing something wrong should not warrant retribution. If you are concerned about doctor patient interaction, I would suggest you seek service elsewhere.

I was belittled by Samuel Docena! He found out that I was in recovery and his whole attitude changed towards me! I came in seeking medication for RLS non-narcotic! And said just tell me what your really here for! He judged me because of my past, didn’t take the time to understand my story or get to know me at all! Once he heard I was on heroin the visit was over he heard nothing else I said! I have been clean for almost 6 years and I have worked very hard to become a different person! It’s people like this that make this world such a bad place! I felt like I was punished for being honest! Never again he is terrible at what he does and how he communicates with his patients!

I called to get an appointment for a sinus infection. Receptionist asked if I took any medication. I told her and she said the doctor doesn't prescribe those. I told her I didn't need a prescription I needed to be seen for a sinus infection. She said she would have to ask the doctor and call me back! What? Never called me back and I wouldn't go if she did.
