Dr. Steinberg is an AWESOME, caring doctor. He has great bedside manners and makes sure that you have an understanding of what’s going on. I recently had gastric bypass surgery. I stayed one night in the hospital. To my surprise, I didn’t have any pain. I would say maybe a little discomfort, depending on how I moved. I never even used any of the pain meds I was sent home with. The surgery seems to be a success. And, I love the fact that my incisions are very minimal. I would definitely recommend Dr. Steinberg to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery. You won’t be disappointed.

My low rating has less to do with the Dr himself...but more to do with his staff. Not all the staff at Surgical Associates if unfriendly, but several people who you have no choice but to see and communicate with during the process just don't make you want to come back. I've communicated with two staff members in particular who always had attitudes and acted as if i was some how putting them out with my questions. The one lady make it especially uncomfortable to be in the room with her, because her manor is off putting. I wish that I had been able to feel comfortable and confident in continuing my journey with them, but I'm seeking my surgery elsewhere.

Dr. Scott Steinberg is amazing! Such a cool and personable dude. I just had RNY gastric bypass surgery on 12/26/17. I'm already feeling great. His staff is exceptional. They had my work paperwork immediately after I got out the hospital. I am sure I will have great end results from one who is above and beyond the average doctor. No wonder my main doctor told me to go to no one in metro Atlanta except this place. Again, an amazing doctor...with an amazing staff!

Dr Steinberg seems great. His staff? Absolutely terrible. I needed a surgery pretty badly to fix a hernia that's been keeping me up at night and greatly affecting my daily life. On Dec 19, we scheduled the surgery for Dec 31 (so that it would be free to me - I had already reached my max out of pocket). His staff didn't submit the pre-approval to my insurance until the 30th and they submitted it as "elective" instead of "urgent". They then submitted as urgent, but even that takes insurance up to 72 hours to approve. His staff called me at 5pm on the 30th to tell me it wasn't approved (surgery scheduled for 7:30am the next day). I called my insurance and worked it out so that if he called them first thing in the morning, it may be approved. Well, they continued to botch that communication and ultimately failed to submit the necessary labs to get it approved. Meanwhile, I was waiting in the surgery center hoping they'd get it together. When I spoke to Crystal about how they failed to handle this correctly, she said "sorry for the inconvenience." Several thousand dollars and more sleepless nights are much more than an inconvenience. It's now 14 days later and I've still not heard a thing from his office. Will not be coming back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I am a true fan and patient of Dr Steinberg. He's a cool dude with this Italian Cali vibe. Cares about his work and more importantly about me the patient. I am kinda on the downside and instead of beating me up he is very encouraging and looking for ways to help get the weight back off. I feel like I failed him and myself in this process but has reassured that he will continue to help get me back to a good place.

Dr. Steinberg was awesome, his staff associate Ms. Velma is more like a loan shark. Pay up or no surgery! I have not even seen a bill for my surgery yet, yet they want me to pay

Dr Steinberg is an ok doctor; however, his technique to cut the muscle rather than go around/under made me question his expertise. The staff was helpful but not friendly. The office does not show concern or follow up on their patients.

I hate to rate Dr.Steinberg 2 stars but this is largely due to the horrible staff he has and the lack of communication within his office. I have had a lapband for almost 8 years and I have tried to have it removed in two different attempts. His office got all the way to the point where I was just a day or two away from surgery when they called to inform me my insurance denied my claim. I asked on both occasions if my procedure was approved and in both instances I was repeatedly told yes. I cannot begin to say how disgusted I am with how this practice is run. The fact that the doctors allow this to continue to happen makes it even worse. I spoke with Cristina (the precert woman) who was not helpful, would not let me leave a message for Dr.Steinberg (in fact she said he probably wouldn't be able to get back to me because he was so busy), and she hung up on me. I will never go back here and will find a better doctor to help me. Dr.Steinberg should have taken the right steps in addressing this problem the first time. Dekalb Medical is subpar to begin with now this just makes my decision to never go back that much easier.
