I just recently moved to the area. My son had a space maintainer that was put in when we lived in NY, at that time he had to have surgery and some of his teeth had to be removed. The general dentist that put it in said to take it out in a few years when his adult teeth started to come in. Here we are 3 yrs later and it broke. So I figured I would just have it taken out as his teeth have come in. I was told that the orthodontist would not touch him because someone else put the appliance in his mouth. First of all, it was broke and sticking my poor son in the mouth. The poor kid is in pain and they wouldn't even help me. I told them I did not want it put back in, I just wanted the ring that was left around his tooth taken out. ANY orthodontist can take a ring out, they do this on a regular basis when patients are finished with treatment. The person on the phone just kept saying the orthodontist would not continue someone else's treatment. I kept saying I didn't want the dentist to continue treatment, I just needed someone to help me and take out the ring.

As far as I am concerned they don't understand or really hear what is needed. The dentist is very foolish because I am sure other people are moving here that may have had prior work done. So what happens, we can't get our teeth fixed because for some reason that is really no one's business we had to move before being finished with treatment? Imagine that, a dentist will not touch you if you had prior treatment somewhere else! No one is motivated to work these days, not even a dentist. So as my child gets older should he need braces I am sure as hell not going to this one!
